Sen, and articles about him written by his students. The official documents have been retrieved from the records of the erstwhile Principal’s room of the Presidency College (now Presidency University) and the West Bengal State Archives. B. M. Sen (1888 – 1978) was a student of Presidency College, the University of Calcutta and the University of Cambridge, a teacher of the Mathematics Department of Presidency College, and principal of the College (1934-42). He published a seminal paper in the journal, ‘Nature’, in 1933. He made remarkable contributions in the fields of quantum mechanics and fluid mechanics. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan by the Government of India in 1974.
